Fabrice Jiew – My raw, unedited, thoughts about Gen AI Customer Experiences.

Coles, this is how you should change up your game!

Walking through Coles today trying to make one of my favourite Malaysian dishes, Nasi Lemak. Which is a coconut rice dish alongside with some fried anchovies and peanuts, and curry chicken. If you haven’t tried it, you need to.

Walking around Coles I noticed a problem.

I.Couldn’t.Find.The.Damn.Ingredients.

Navigating through a maze of Coles, and being the time-poor business owner I am, I am running through every aisle trying to find where is coconut cream. Or is it coconut milk that I need? Or can I use these anchovies for my dish.

And then it hit me. Gen AI could have told me this. As a consumer, we could literally speak to an AI, ask it what dish it is that we want to create, and Gen AI could tell me the exact ingredients, where I could find them in the store, how much to buy, and the costs associated with it!

Our Ivy 2 build would be a perfect fit for a business like Coles, where you’re dealing with mass consumer goods that are constantly changing day in and day out. There is simply too much time spent on labelling and figuring out all of the new products coming in, what’s going out, pricing changing, etc etc.

Coles’ strategy shouldn’t be about ingredients. It should be about delicacies, dishes, and giving the consumer the power to create the food that they love, have the nutrition they need, and enable customers to become the experts in their business!

The Solution:

Imagine walking into a Coles store, and amongst the aisles there is a simple screen. The screen you can speak to (just like Ivy 2), and you could tell Ivy 2 about a range of your requirements for shopping.

Mine would be: How do I make Nasi Lemak, retain the taste, but make sure its low calories. Which of your products would resemble our dishes closely?

Perhaps I could even scan an item on Ivy 2, and Ivy 2 could tell me a wealth of information about the product. I could ask: how long can I leave out this coconut milk out of the fridge? What sort of rice would be the best fit for my dish? Jasmine? Basmati?

For somebody like my late grandfather, this would have been a lifesaver, as his English wasn’t fluent. He could ask in his native language the same questions, and straight away Ivy 2 could provide those answers in your native language and guide him.

So Leah Weckert, I think you should hire us.
